Vértices: Trajectory and challenges of scientific journal of the Instituto Federal Fluminense

Abstract

The magazine Vertices begins its trajectory in 1997, as a scientific publication of the Instituto Federal Fluminense. In these 22 years, the journal has gone through different phases and its permanence can be attributed to the numerous positive changes that occurred during this period, such as: use of an electronic publishing system (Open Journal Systems), indexing of the journal in databases and repositories, Qualis CAPES classification, increase in the number of submissions, participation of authors of regional and national origin, maintenance of the punctuality and periodicity of published issues, appointment of a specialized editorial board, expansion of the register of reviewers, and especially support and participation readers, authors and reviewers. The challenges are related to following the different recommendations of the areas, receiving the originals, choosing, accepting and sending the opinions by the reviewers, the support and training of the technical team and the indexing in databases. The commitment of the editors and the editorial staff remains in search of ways to democratize knowledge and raise the levels of intellectual and cultural production in our country.
