This work aims to describe the process of planning, monitoring, and publishing thematic issues in Vértices magazine, to reflect on the contributions received and selected, due to the number of articles, number and diversity of authors, as well as institutions by region and countries. The case study indicated that the capture of articles from thematic issues can be considered as an important strategy for editors, resulting in a possibility of expanding the participation of authors, regions, and themes.
