This paper reports my experience as a young doctor who assumed the role of editor-in-chief of Revista Fisioterapia & Saúde Funcional early in my career. It highlights common challenges such as lack of proper editorial training and the loss of essential administrative support. The aim is to raise awareness among novice editors about these obstacles and provide effective strategies to overcome them, promoting better preparation and support. The report discusses the restructuring of the editorial process, the establishment of new partnerships, and the implementation of sections aimed at a non-specialized audience, measures that contributed to increasing the journal’s visibility and quality.
