The practice of preserving electronic journals: the case of Diretorium. Preserve BR

Abstract

In the preservation of digital documents, it is essential to adopt effective strategies and methodologies for their management, as well as tools to ensure their long-term maintenance. The aim of this paper is to report on the experience of creating Diretorium.Preserve BR through exploratory and descriptive research. The study details the purpose of the directory, presenting the number of titles, areas of knowledge, sub-areas and regions, as well as explaining the methodology and implementation of the LOCKSS plugin by the Cariniana Network, used as a good practice in journal preservation. It is increasingly essential to ensure that journals are available and accessible to future generations and that they continue to contribute to the advancement of scientific research.
