Abstract

The current scenario presents significant challenges for scientific journals committed to quality and editorial rigor, including the use of artificial intelligence, the assurance of scientific integrity, the prevention of misconduct, the peer review process, and the adoption of Open Science practices. This paper aims to report the experience of the Journal of Applied Oral Science (JAOS) in addressing these challenges. Besides of the important progress in aligning the journal with the principles of Open Science, some aspects still require improvement. This report also discusses the incorporation of artificial intelligence into scientific publishing and the practices adopted by the journal to promote the integrity of published articles and prevent publications involving data manipulation or misconduct.
