Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become increasingly common in academia. However, there is no consensus regarding its use. The aim of this study was to investigate whether Brazilian scientific journals in the field of Applied Social Sciences, indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), provide recommendations on the use of AI in their publications through editorial guidelines. Employing a qualitative-quantitative and descriptive approach, 51 journals were examined, of which 29 (57%) mention the use of AI. Only a limited group of journals have specific policies, requiring explicit disclosure of its use, including model, version, and purpose, mainly in the methodology and abstract sections. Regarding international committees, the journals predominantly follow the guidelines of SciELO and COPE. Regulation of AI use remains incipient, suggesting the need for greater standardization and transparency to ensure the integrity of scientific publications.
