Resumo

Pediatric neurosurgery is one of the oldest neurosurgical specialties. However, it wasn't until the 20th century that the field gained scientific recognition. The International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery founded the journal Child's Brain in 1972 (Child’s Nervous System), however, Latin America lacks representation. This paper reposts the experience of creating the journal Archives of Pediatric Neurosurgery (APN) in 2019 as an open-access online journal, describes how it gained recognition as the official publication of the Brazilian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery. APN published 118 peer-reviewed articles, is indexed in various databases, prioritizes accessibility and innovation, including video content and online-first publishing. APN aims to foster international collaborations, expand indexing, and continue delivering high-quality pediatric neurosurgical knowledge to a global audience.
