The importance and challenges of open evaluation in the light of the experience of the journal Práticas Educativas, Memórias e Oralidades

The study deals with open peer review, encouraged as one of the pillars of Open Science to increase transparency in the editorial process. The aim is to analyze the open peer review experience developed at Revpemo, based on the advantages and challenges identified. The qualitative, descriptive research showed that this evaluation model promotes greater transparency in the review process by encouraging evaluators to produce higher quality opinions, with more ethics and respect for the author. The conclusion is that, despite the challenge of guiding reviewers due to their lack of knowledge, open review makes it possible to stimulate a culture of recognition and responsibility, strengthening the reliability and value of this activity.
