Abstract

Retractions of scientific articles are the main means of communicating errors made in scientific publications, which may or may not be caused by misconduct. Studies indicate an increase in the number of retractions, and in 2023 there was a record of 10 thousand retractions in the world. The Retraction Watch database provides information on retractions in journals. A quantitative study of 358 retractions by Brazilian authors in the RWDB was carried out. It was identified that articles were published in traditional international publishers in the Biomedical areas. There is a low number of retractions in Brazilian magazines. The main reasons/reasons are publisher investigations, data concerns, and image duplication. Errors in data and/or analysis follow the international increasing trend.
